This Jin Xuan Oolong is from Wang Ding Tea Factory in Ruili, Taiwan, a small tea village in the Alishan Mountain range. Their multiple gardens are located around 3300 ft (1100m) elevation. They grow the Chin Xin variety, from which they make a traditional lightly oxidized Oolong and a more contemporary Black Tea. This Jin Xuan variety, which while processed in exactly the same way as the Chin Xin variety, offers a more floral aroma and mild but natural milky aftertaste.
The Tea makers are Mr. and Mrs. Wang. Mr. Wang grew up helping his father make tea, and when his father could no longer carry on the business, he took over at age 18, which was actually kept a secret for some time because his father had a trusted status with loyal customers. Mr. Wang, now a tea maker for over 20 years maintains strong community ties in Ruili and the surrounding area. He, along with his wife, brother, two children, mother, and grandmother, not to mention the handful of local factory workers, all contribute to keeping Wang Ding Tea Factor alive and successful in the competitive industry that is Taiwan Oolong Tea.
